Tiger Woods has announced that he will make his long awaited return to competitive golf at the U. S Masters tournament in Augusta, this April.
"The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect," Woods said in a statement. "After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta"
Woods has not played competitively since winnning the Australian Masters in November just a couple of weeks before his now infamous "car accident".
The Master's would seem an ideal place for Woods return, which is certain to come under intense media scrutiny.
The Tournament is known for allowing strictly limited media credentials and the absence of the tabloid media must make the prospect more appealing for Tiger.
Spectators are also usually on their best behaviour as security has no qualms about ejecting rowdy patrons and removing their tickets for the rest of the week. Woods caddie Steve Williams is probably disapointed as he is unlikely to get a chance to practice HIS favourite sport of throwing cameras in lakes.
All in all the decision makes sense for Tiger who will have to deal with less jokes and distractions although this is a bit disapointing for those who wanted to see what happens when a TMZ camera gets in Stevie's face or a drunken frat boy asks Tiger what hole he's on
