Return of the King

Seven years after leaving Manchester United David Beckham finally made his long awaited return to Old Trafford and even though his AC Milan side were completely over whelmed nothing could prevent Beckham from grabbing the headlines.

Beckham had to be content with a place on the bench as Coach Leonardo opted to start with .

He could only watch from the sidelines as United tore Milan's ageing side apart with some superb attacking football.

By the time Beckham was introduced two goals from Wayne Rooney and a third from ji Sung Park had put the tie beyond all doubt and the United fans afforded Beckham a standing ovation that visibly moved an emotional Beckham.

United add a fourth late on to ensure a miserable evening for Milan. However Beckham ensured he had the last word by draping a green and gold anti- Glazer scarf around his neck in apparent support of the fan protests against Uniteds owners.

In doing so he has ensured he will remain a hero to the most hardcore man united fans and possibly galvanised the red knight consortium into making amuch rumoured takeover bid for the club.
