Tiger Talks

Earlier Tiger Woods broke a three month long silence in order to apologise for his infidelities in a 14 minute prepared speech in front of friends and family at Sawgrass Golf Club in Florida. Taking a look at what Woods had to say a few things stuck out as being particularly interesting.

The Woods in front of the camera was nothing like the jovial post round interviewee usually seen on camera. Tiger was focused bordering on robotic as he addressed those in attendance and looked a shadow of his former self.

Woods admissions of cheating on his wife and his apology to her and many others were in stark contrast to John Terry who lost the England captaincy in comparable circumstances. Woods admitted he had allowed himself to believe that he deserved to enjoy the temptations that his success afforded him.

The announcement that he will return to golf but that he is unsure when: Many had assumed that Woods would return to play at the U.S Masters in April while he left the door open for this saying he may return this year he seemed to suggest his return may be later rather than sooner.

Woods claimed that when he returned it would be with a new respect for the game and a less selfish attitude and that he looked forward to seeing his fellow pros some of whom have been critical of him for both his actions on course (Tom Watson), off course (Jasper Parnavik) and in the timing of this conference (Ernie Els).

Reaction to the speech, has been mixed with some questioning it's sincerity.
