Following yesterday's games Chelsea, who beat Wolves now hold a commanding four point lead at the top of the Premiership table over closest rivals Man Utd who lost 3-1 away to Everton in a lackluster display.
The result was only the third time Everton have beaten United at Goodison Park and on both previous occasions United have failed to go on and win the title.
The result gives Chelsea breathing space with less than a third of the season still to play.
Arsenal remained in the hunt for the title with a 2-0 victory over a struggling Sunderland side that are finding points hard to come by in recent times.
In the search for the fourth champions league spot Liverpool dropped more vital points after a goalless draw with fellow contenders Man City in a match so dull Match of the Day could barely find a highlight for it.
