Tiger Woods arrived back on the scene with a bang yesterday as the world number one shot a 68 in the first round of the U.S Masters.
Cheered on by a supportive crowd, Woods looked like he'd never left as he returned to competitive golf for the first time following his lengthy absence for "pesonal reasons".
Woods afterwards described the crowd response as phenomonal
Noone could take the spotlight off Woods but it was a pair of golden oldies who outplayed him.
Fifty year old Freddie Couples took the lead on day 1 with a six under par 66 while Tom Watson who came so close to winning last years British Open was in a tie for second one back on 67.
Unfortunately it was a bad day for the Irish as both Padraig Harrington and Rory Mc Ilroy shot 74is while Graeme Mc Dowell could only manage a 75
