for a time it was difficult to hear the birds chirping at Augusta national over the sound of the Champagne popping in the B.B.C commentary box.
At around 10 o' clock last night Lee Westwood had just taken a four stroke lead into the back nine and the sense of jubilation amongst the crew was palpable.
Peter Allis interrupted his anecdotal ramblings to engage in some patriotic hyperbole about the chances of Westwood becoming the first british Winner sine ni9ck faldo back in 1990.
Sam Torrance eagerly Stroked his moustache and offered up several Aye's which was probably the most insightful analysis he's offered up so far this week.
Only Wayne Grady the token Aussie in the commentary box was unimpressed "its a long way from finished yet he warned but Peter, Sam and Ken could'nt hear up in the clouds.
Wayne was right though and Phil Mickelson stormed back into contention with a pair of eagles on 13 and 14 to set up a thrilling final day.
With Tiger still prowling (sorry)four shots back and K.J Choi ( affectionately nicknamed K.JOi by Wayne and Peter) three back the pack was much too close for the commentators comfort by the time hazel Irvine signed off last night.
it all makes for a very exciting final round tonight.
